Select Shingle Roofer
The Select Shingle Roofer Certificate
is awarded to a roofing company for achieving CertainTeed's highest credential level and is therefore authorized to operate and represent itself as a SELECT Shingle Roofer, as well as offer the CertainTeed SureStart PLUS warranty extensions.
SELECT ShingleMaster Applicator
SELECT ShingleMaster™ (SSM)
is the top-level CertainTeed roofing credential and represents the highest standards of excellence, quality, and knowledge in the shingle roofing industry. An SSM has shown extensive knowledge of shingle installation and quality through rigorous testing and provided CertainTeed with proof of workers' compensation and liability insurance.
Only an SSM can offer you the highest level of SureStart PLUS™ extended warranty coverage when an Integrity Roof System is installed on your home.
Master Shingle Applicator
The
Master Shingle Applicator Program
is an educational program to qualify professional shingle roofing contractors and a technical manual, exclusively from CertainTeed. The CertainTeed Shingle Application Manual discusses asphalt composition shingle roof systems, proper application techniques, shingle quality, manufacturer's warranty requirements, and customer satisfaction. Cook's Roofing has been a Master Shingle Applicator since 1997. We are required to take the test every two years.
Our status as a Master Shingle Applicator is proof to you that we employ competent workers who can do the job right, whether they need a new roof, repairs, roof replacement, or other roof installation work.
As a competent Master Shingle Applicator, our company can be sure that our work will be done in accordance with CertainTeed warranty requirements.
Quality Master
The
Quality Master Program
is designed to separate the dedicated roofing professional from the shady, slipshod roofer. You need a way to tell at a glance who is a knowledgeable roofing contractor from one who's not. The Quality Master Program is not designed for everyone. Only roofing professionals like Cook's Roofing, who are truly willing to put the time and dedication into it, will qualify. But the fact that everyone will not "make the grade" is what gives the Quality Master Seal its value.
This "limited access" will pay off in added credibility and trust for the contractor who does make the effort and completes the program. This limited access is reinforced by a re-qualification requirement every two years for all Quality Masters.
Professional Roofing Advisory Council
Ken has been an active, respected member of the Professional Roofer Advisory Council since 1995. The Council was developed for area roofing contractors to come together and discuss roofing, problems with roofing and to share advantages in knowledge and technology in the roofing industry.
Attic Ventilation Certificate of Completion
What is the purpose of attic ventilation?
It seems like a simple question and easy enough to answer. Unfortunately, all too often that's not the case. Most homeowners, and even some experienced builders and contractors, believe the purpose of attic ventilation is to remove heat that builds up in the summer.
That's accurate, of course, but what that answer leaves out is just as important as what it includes.
If you understand the principles of attic ventilation, you know an effective venting system provides year-round benefits.
- During warmer months, ventilation helps keep attics cool.
- During colder months, ventilation reduces moisture to help keep attics dry. It also helps prevent ice dams.
Several purposes of an attic ventilation system are to provide added comfort, help protect against damage to materials and structure "and to help reduce energy consumption during all four seasons of the year."
Solving Moisture and Mold Problems Certificate
We have attended a Moisture and Mold Seminar enabling us to spot telltale signs of mold in your attic and help you to address the issue. However, we are not certified or trained in mold removal.
